Jericoacoara

OVERVIEW OF JERICOACOARA

Jericoacoara or also called Jeri is a place out of the ordinary compared with the modern world of large cities, traffic jams and queues … The streets are covered with sand and the beaches extend for kilometers without visual interference and crowd… Everything has a slower and more relaxed touch.
Until about 20 years ago, Jericoacoara was just a simple fisherman village isolated in the North of Brasil, visited only by adventurous travelers. There were no roads, electricity, telephone, television, newspapers… The trade was done through exchange of products, such as fish for rice, and so on.

But all this does not mean that you will have to deprive yourself of comfort and luxury. Almost everything you want, you can have in Jeri; from massages to delicious dinners, quiet bars to houses with live music, plus excellent hotels. Jericoacoara is for everyone.
The city was famous for being one of the most beautiful and longest beaches in the world, surrounded by freshwater lagoons and dunes – bringing people from all over the world to its shores. In 1984 a federel law declared Jericoacoara area of environmental protection and in 2002 the area reached the maximum status in terms of environmental protection, being named National Park. Due to restrictions on construction and environmental protection laws, Jericoacoara has grown in a positive way. The goal is to protect the beauty and simplicity of Jeri, since then Jeri have seen creation of small and cozy inns that offer charm and sophistication without grandeur or extravagance.

WHEN TO GO

Jeri is a warm city all year round, with average annual temperature of 27ºC. There are discrepant change in temperature between winter and summer; the average between one station and another only vary between 26 ° C and 28 ° C.

Although in heat throughout the year, it is important to note that the frequency of rainfall is higher in the first half, especially between the months of February and May. If you plan to travel during the rainy season, consider that the wind is constant in the city and, therefore, a day that starts cloudy can easily be sunny a moment later.

The winds are present year-round, helping to ease to refresh, and they are strongest between August and November; so this is the ideal time to travel if you practice windsurf or kite-surf.
