Uakari lodge is originally called Uacari lodge in Portuguese which is a species of monkey.
During the 4 nights you will be able to know the different habitats that freshwater swamp forests offer, to walk in the forest during the day or at night, to go to paddling trails, to see the sunset and come back looking for animals at night with motor canoe. You will meet a riverine community, where you’re going to learn about local people life and see lectures given by the naturalist guide and the researchers.
Room with two, three or four comfortable beds, ceiling fan and private bathroom. Decorated with local handicrafts. It can accommodate up to four people in single beds. Area: 22 m2 (237 feet).
Mamirauá Sustainable Development Reserve is a protected area by the state of Amazon (AM), with an extension of 1.124.000 ha, located between Solimões, Auti-Paraná and Japurá rivers. It’s the largest protected flooded forest in the world.
Eight communities from the reserve act managing the Uakari lodge, the contractors, the employees and the salespeople. Uacari (or Uakari) Lodge’s operation is a performance line of Mamirauá Institute’s community-based tourism program.
All facilities are sustainable. The energy is form the sun. The rain is collected, kept and reused. The effluents are treated before coming back to the river. The tiles are ecological, made of recycled PET from plastic bottles.
In total, there are 10 rooms with the capacity of 24 guests. The Lodge has a central floating area with a small deck, a kitchen, a restaurant, a bar, a video room and a library.
