It is one of the main tourist destinations of Maranhão state. Lençóis Maranhenses is an hidden paradise in northeastern Brazil, Created in 1981, the National Park Maranhenses – with total area of 156,500 hectares – is part of the Route of the Emotions. The dunes – common in this region of the country – are formed by the force of the winds that create a unique landscape and constantly change their appearance. In this giant ‘desert’, we can find lakes formed by the accumulation of water in the first half of the year.
This is the ideal package for those who will have a short stay in the region to visit the national park. You will stay in Atins, a bucolic fisherman village bordering on one side the Atlantic ocean (Ideal for windsurfers), on the other, the preguiça river and finally the Lençóis Maranhenses national park. The access to Atins is by car from São Luis to Barreirinhas and by boat to Atins.
The Ecopousada filho do vento was the first hotel built in Atins of town in the middle of 2000. Traditional and known to Brazilians and foreign tourists, has typical local architecture; their cabins were built in the form of a hollow circle imitating Indigenous houses, with carnauba straw roofs and large balcony with hammock.
The hotel is in a privileged location 200 meters from Atins Beach, a beach paradise with clean and calm waters, a small fishing village, located at one end of the National Park Maranhenses, one of the most beautiful regions of the world.
Built in the shape of a hollow circle. Its roof is made of carnauba straw, a local palm tree of the region. The room has a double bed, a single bed (accommodation for up to 3 people), small closet, private bathroom (cold shower), fan, musketeer and large balcony with hammocks. It is decorated with local artwork, providing a rustic and pleasant atmosphere.
Transfers from and to São Luis airport are included in private basis. We recommend to land in São Luis airport at 12h30 maximum as boat transfer Barreirinhas to Atins does NOT operate at night.
