The forest fire that hit the city of Ibicoara in Chapada Diamantina, was controlled during the early hours of Wednesday (11). Second city of the Department of Tourism information, a mist helped the firefighters to fight the flames, which raged from Sunday (8).

According to information from the tour desk, the teams which helped to control the flames will remain in the city for the next 48 hours as a preventive measure in case of fire return.

In addition to the firefighters of Feira de Santana fire, Vitória da Conquista and Salvador, also helped in firefighting the Chico Mendes Institute for Biodiversity Conservation (ICMBio), the federal brigade Previfogo Roseli nuves, municipal brigades Bicho do Mato, ACVIB and Radical Chapada, in addition to voluntary brigades stowage bar and Finance Igarashi. The Bahia state government collaborated with a helicopter and two aircraft firefighting which unfortunately could´ve control the risk of fire extension few days before.

Vale do Capão

The fires in the Chapada Diamantina National Park, in the Morro Branco region of Vale do Capão, were controlled by firefighters ICMBio and Valley Visitor Conductors Association of Capão (ACV-VC), around 23h Last Tuesday (10).
On the morning of Wednesday (11), the brigade returned to the park to carry the aftermath of work where possible outbreak of new fires are investigated and addressed. According to information from members of the ACV-VC, the fires are being fought for more than a week in the Capão Valley.

Hopefully the rain will fall shortly to help all the fighting population and tourist will return for a walk. Tourism i the Chapada Diamantina is one of the most incoming for the inhabitants. Chapda diamantina is considered as one of the most beautiful place in Brazil.
